Today (April 28, 2018, Saturday), world veterinary day 2018 has been celebrated at Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU), Mymensingh. This year, the event with the theme “The role of veterinary profession in sustainable development to improve livelihoods, food security and safety” was jointly organized by the Faculty of Veterinary Science (FVS), BAU, and the Bangladesh Veterinary Association (BVA) – Mymensingh Division. A colorful rally was arranged that was moved around the BAU campus. The program was chaired by Prof. Dr. Prya Mohan Das, Dean, FVS, BAU. Prof. Dr. Emdadul Haque Chowdhury and Dr. Md. Nurul Islam were present as the special guests.
Dr. SD Chowdhury, Honorable Students Advisor, BAU was present in the event as the chief guest. The key note on the theme was presented by Prof. Dr. KHM Nazmul Hussain Nazir, Department of Microbiology and Hygiene, FVS, BAU. The speakers emphasized on different aspects of food security and safety issues in Bangladesh and crucial roles of veterinarians in improvement of livelihoods.
More than 350 participants including university teachers, government officials, field veterinarians and veterinary students were attended the festive event.
